METHOD FOR DETECTING DEFOLIATING AND NON-DEFOLIATING PATHOTYPES OF VERTICILLIUM DAHLIAE IN PLANTS

The method involves: a) extracting the DNA contained in a sample of a plant susceptible of being infected by V. dahliae ; b) adding a first pair of primers to the DNA extracted in step a), which make it possible to amplify a region of the V. dahliae genome that is specific to pathotype D or pathotype ND; c) enzymatically amplifying the region of the V. dahliae genome associated with pathotype D or pathotype ND in order to obtain a first amplification product; d) adding a second pair of primers bordering a region of the V. dahliae genome within said first amplification products and e) enzymatically amplifying the region of the V. dahliae within said second pair of primers in order to obtain a second a amplification product which is specific either to the pathotype D or pathotype ND of V. dahliae . The invention is used in the identification of pathotypes D and ND of V. dahliae in plants.
