The sensor system has a transducer plate (1) mounted on the motor's rotor shaft with a ring marking coaxial to the rotation axis with alternate first and second markings (2-5;6-9) in the rotation direction, two stationary sensors (S0,S1) for detecting the markings and a processing unit for the sensor signals. The sensors are arranged so that one of the two markings can be simultaneously detected by both sensors. AN Independent claim is also included for a method of determining commutation signal of electronically commutated electric motor with 3 or more phases.
