The hollow cylindrical main part (12) of the stent consists of filament-like elements (22,24) staggered in position around the periphery. The filaments form a mesh (18) interwoven with polygonal cells(20). On at least one end (14,16) of the main part, the filaments intersect at least in pairs (28,30) at peripherally distributed intersection-end points from which the free ends (32,34,38,40) lead away in pairs at least. At least three of the free ends are fixed together.
