In building a tyre (1), in particular for two-wheeled vehicles, formation of annular stiffening inserts (10) is provided which are incorporated in the carcass structure (2), each close to one of the sidewalls (9). Each annular stiffening insert (10) is made up of a cord of the 3x3x0.175 HE HT type, wound up into coils (10a) disposed radially in side by side relationship with each other, starting from the annular reinforcing structures (4) arranged in the beads until close to a side edge (5a) of the belt structure (5).
