A ruminant feed supplement composition, for inhibiting disease outbreaks and for relieving effects of stress, contains at least 17% by weight of crude protein (i.e. material which can be effectively used by ruminant animals to form essential amino acids) provided by edible animal feedstuffs, from 350 to 11,200 g. (per ton of the supplement) of a tetracycline antibiotic selected from chlortetracycline, tetracycline, oxytetracycline and demethylchlortetracycline, and from 350 to 11,200 g. (per ton of the supplement) of sulphamethazine. The supplement is preferably administered at the rate of 1/16 to 2 lbs./headlday and may be pelletized. The crude protein content of the feed supplement may be provided by soybean meal, dehydrated alfalfa meal and/or urea. The supplement may also contain vitamins A and D and iodized salt. |
