PURPOSE: A device and a method for holding video of a communication terminal are provided to hold motion pictures and still images using a variety of contents so as to apply a holding function to commercial advertisement. CONSTITUTION: A video holding device of a communication terminal(100) includes a decoder(101), a signal processor(102), a display(103) and a speaker(104). The decoder decodes multimedia contents received from a base station(200) to output video and audio signals. The signal processor processes the video and audio signals and holds the signals when a user wants. The display displays the video signal held by the signal processor. The speaker outputs the audio signal held by the signal processor. The video holding device further includes an interface for transmitting and receiving multimedia contents stored in an external storage through a network.
