Operation of calender roller stack to prevent striped patterning, adjusts soft roller transversely with respect to pressing direction as function of wavelength

When a striped pattern (barring) appears at the circumference of a soft roller, the wavelength of the striped pattern is determined. A soft roller is offset transversely with respect to the pressing direction, as a function of the wavelength. Preferred Features: The offset is less than the wavelength. It is made at the roller on which the striped pattern emerges. The offset is related to a half wavelength on the surface of the roller in a first instance, and to a quarter wavelength in a second instance. In the first case a stripped (barring) pattern emerges on the roller surface and must be removed; in the second, removal is not necessary. When the roller is a central roller, the offset is through one half of the wavelength. On exchanging a roller with an identical replacement, a quarter wavelength difference is introduced. The offset is achieved by altering the length of a lever on which the roller is mounted. A spacer is inserted between the roller bearing and the lever.
