A galvanic button cell which is closed in a gas tight manner and, in particular, a miniature button cell in the form of an alkaline accumulator, for example of a nickel-cadmium or nickel-hydride accumulator is described. The cell has a tub-shaped housing (1) which is made of metal and in which two electrodes (3, 4) are arranged. The electrodes are insulated from the housing (1) by a supporting ring (6). A metal cover (2), which is mounted on the upper edge (7) of the housing (1) in a gas tight manner, with the interposition of an insulating ring, closes the cell. The special feature is that a disc (9) which rests on the inside of the cover (2) is integrally formed on the upper edge of the supporting ring (6). Centrally, the cover has a cup-shaped hollow rivet (11) which is expediently formed by spot welding, passes through a central opening in the disc (9) and fixes the disc on the inside of the cover (2), to produce a seal, by flanging over. A large-area seal, which is stable over a long period and has long leakage paths is thus produced (Figure 1). <IMAGE> |
