Novel compounds of the formula <FORM:1105895/C2/1> wherein R is hydrogen or a R1CO- group with at least one R being an R1CO-group, and R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl, aryl or bromoaryl group, are obtained by reacting the corresponding diphenolic compound with acylaing agents. Therapeutic compositions, having estrogenic properties and useful for promoting the growth of meat-producing animals, contain the above compounds as active ingredient. The composition may be in a form suitable for oral or parenteral application, e.g. as a constituent of an animal foodstuff. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 951,349. |
