Production of a decorative part comprises preparing a support part; applying a metallic layer on partial regions of the support part in a PVD process; and removing the metallic layer in a partial region of the surface of the decorative part using a laser. An Independent claim is also included for the decorative part produced. Preferred Features: After preparing the support part, an intermediate layer is applied on the support part. The partial regions, in which the metallic layer is removed, take the form of decorative elements, numerals, letters, geometric elements or functional symbols.
