<p>A printer with the capability of printing on two-color thermally sensitive media. Owing to their chemistry, two-color thermally sensitive media produce a 'halo effect' about black characters, which diminishes their darkness and makes them appear 'washed out'. The printer of this invention has a controller that dictates that characters printed on different media (i.e., on single- or two-color media) shall have a different bitmap set of characters. The bitmap set used for two-color media provides characters that have thicker line widths, and therefore have the appearance of being blacker. This darker appearance counterbalances the diminished darkness of the characters caused by the 'halo effect'.</p> |
