The oil supply system has a filter unit with filter arrangement installed upstream from a branch point (13) in the supply line (6). The filter unit includes several filter components (28,29) with different mesh widths to suit the required quality of hydraulic oil. The filter arrangement may have several chambers which each contain several filter components, whereby all filter components of the same chamber have the same mesh width. The filter arrangement is designed so that oil passage through filter units of smaller mesh width is less than that through the filter components of larger mesh width.
