The cylinder head gasket has mounting holes (120, 120a) which fit over seatings on one of the engine components. The peripheral clamping layer (102) of the gasket is either single-layered or is multi-layered and its outer layer is turned away from the component to which the seating is attached. An Independent claim is included for a system of components comprising two components to be sealed with the gasket between them.
