The device for the fastening of especially skirting boards (1) has a mounting rail (2) which has slotted openings (5) in the form of U-form recesses with a predetermined spacing over the length of the rail and extending orthogonally to the length of the rail. Clamping component (6) fit over the slotted holes on both sides for fastening of the rail so that the mounting rail is clamped between the wall surface (4) and clamping components with a predetermined clamping action.
