1,144,239. Crystalline antimonic acid. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 16 Dec., 1966 [29 Dec., 1965], No. 56463/66. Heading C1A. Crystalline antimonic acid with a pyrochlore structure is obtained from an alkali metal hexahydroxoantimonate (e.g. Na Sb (OH) 6 ) by heating to about 250‹ C. The polyantimonate formed is then treated with a strong acid, e.g. nitric, sulphuric, hydrochloric or perchloric. Sodium salts are preferably used in this process. In the description sodium hexahydroxoantimonate was heated to 250‹ C. for 2 to 3 days, and the polyantimonate was treated with 2N nitric acid until all the sodium ions had been replaced; the antimonic acid then being washed with distilled water and dried at 50‹ C. This antimonic acid has good exchange capacity with respect to the alkali metal and alkaline earth ions.
|
