A fluid stream control apparatus comprises a fluid pressure source 4 which emits a stream through an orifice 6 and a collector 3, having a receiving orifice 7, responsive to variation in the kinetic energy of the stream. A kinetic energy control device 8 is located between the orifices 6, 7 and comprises an orifice 9 in axial alignment with the orifices 6, 7. The plate is supplied with current from a source 10 under the control of a variable resistance 12 and the transference of heat from the plate 8 to the stream varies the kinetic energy of the stream. In a modification the plate is replaced by a heated coil surrounding the stream. In a further modification the plate is replaced by a membrane which is vibrated electrically in response to sound to provide a wave motion to vary the kinetic energy of the stream.</p> |
