<p>A method for preparing a compound having a terminal group of formula (HO)2OPO-CH2CH(OH)-CO-, which method comprises treating a species of formula (R6O-CH2CH(OP(O)(OR7)2CO-) where R6 is a protecting group, and each group R7 is hydrogen or a protecting group with acid in the presence of water to remove any protecting groups R?6 and R7¿ and rearrange the secondary phosphoryl group to a primary phosphoryl group. The process is particularly useful in the preparation of certain antibacterial oxazolidinone compounds.</p> |
