Device (2) for cutting workpieces, especially plate-like wooden materials, comprises at least one tool (16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26) and an arrangement (4) for guided movement of a workpiece in its main plane. The arrangement clamps the workpiece and moves in the main plane in at least two perpendicular directions. Preferred Features: A tool, preferably at least two tools protrude from a table top (12) supporting the underside of the workpiece. The tool is a cutter, drill, circular saw, or a specialized cutting tool. The workpiece is clamped along an edge region.
