An electrochemical sensor system and membrane and method thereof for increas ed accuracy and effective life of electrochemical and enzyme sensors. The metho d comprises the removal of interfering agents from the membrane by applying a sufficient electrical potential, as well as the restoration of the functiona l properties of the electrochemical sensor by polymerization of an electropolymerizable monomer omto the polymeric membrane.
