The drive and control mechanism (10) has a small pinion (52) on the motor shaft driving a large pinion forming part of a two-stage reduction gear (48). The final gear is connected to the potentiometer (80) and a split lever (150-154) which may grip a control rod connected to the throttle valve in the induction system of the internal combustion engine.
