PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a method for fabricating the same are provided to reduce a stepped difference between pads for applying a voltage to pixel electrodes and areas between the pads, thereby forming a uniform alignment film without any alignment stain. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes first and second substrates, a plurality of gate and data lines intersecting each other on the first substrate, a plurality of thin film transistors formed in the intersections between the gate and data lines, gate and data pad parts(40,40-1) formed at ends of the gate and data lines, a pattern(C) formed in an area between either of gate or data pads equally to the pattern of the pads, an alignment film formed on the entire surface of the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer formed between the first and second substrates.
