PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly start or stop an engine depending on the situation without additionally requiring a sensor and wiring. SOLUTION: This engine automatic starting system 10 is connected to a failure diagnostic communication standard connector 12, obtains communication data D from an engine controller 14 or an AT controller 16 through the failure diagnostic communication standard connector 12, and has a function to automatically start or stop the engine based on the communication data D. The failure diagnostic communication standard connector 12 is in conformity with, for example, SAE J1962 standard. Since only the communication data obtained from the failure diagnostic communication standard connector 12 is used, an additional sensor and additional wiring is not required.
