摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical gyro detecting a wide range of angular velocity accurately in a narrow measurement band at a low cost and low power consumption. SOLUTION: When an injection current in a ring laser is Ia at a stationary time (Ω=0), a variation frequency of inter-terminal voltage shows|Δf0a|. As the angular velocity in clockwise direction increases, the variation frequency of inter-terminal voltage increases according to the solid line (a), reachesΩ=Ωca and the solid line (a) finally crosses the upper limit of the measurement band. When injection current is changed to Ib , the measurement band appears overΩcb(<Ωca) and so angular velocity measurement becomes possible again. In this manner, the switch once turned over is returned to the injection current Ia when the frequency measured with the counter reaches the lower limit of the measurement band.
