PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air valve that can prevent a malfunction of a valve element by suppressing an adverse effect on a float of an inflow of bubbles in a valve casing and suppressing generation of splash and dust scatter. SOLUTION: The air valve comprises the valve casing 5 having an inflow opening 5A at a connection to piping in a lower part and having a valve seat 4 in which an exhaust hole 3 is formed in an upper part, the valve element 6 for opening and closing the exhaust hole 3, and the float 11 disposed in the valve casing to press the valve element 6 in the closing direction by means of buoyancy. A plate 21 as a damping member is disposed under the float 11 and in opposition to the inflow opening 5A.
