PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building method and a building, which utilize an existing building and permit an extension to be built upward in a vertical direction in a state of eliminating even a temporal removal of residents. SOLUTION: The building method for newly adding a space part to an upper part along the vertical direction of the building while keeping the residents in an occupancy state without removing all the existing building is characterized as follows: the building is an apartment house; a supporting member, whose upper end is extended above a roof member of the existing building, is installed in a standing manner inside a side wall of the existing building; a new roof member is constructed at the upper end of the supporting member; accordingly, the roof member of the existing building is removed after the roof member is newly provided above the existing building; after that, a floor member is provided in a place where the existing roof member is removed; and the space part is formed between the floor member and the newly provided roof member.
