PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid fuel changing device enabling execution of continuous operation of the combustion furnace for a long time and provided a solid fuel charging device enabling reduction of an equipment cost by properly reducing the size of the combustion furnace by enabling safe and reliable additional charging of solid fuel at an arbitrary timing during operation of a combustion furnace by preventing injection of unburnt gas in a combustion furnace and a flame through a fuel charge opening when solid fuel is charged in the combustion furnace during operation of a combustion furnace, in the combustion furnace using the solid fuel and operated by keeping an internal part at a positive pressure state. SOLUTION: The solid fuel charging device is provided with a gate door 5 to open and close by sliding an opening part 4, formed in a side wall 3 of the combustion furnace; a filling chamber 6 formed in front of the gate door 5 and filling solid fuel; a charge opening 7 formed in the upper part of the filling chamber 6, a charge opening cover 8 to open and close the charge opening 7, and a forcing plate 9 openably disposed at the inner side of the charge opening cover 8 and forcing the filled solid fuel in the opening part 4.
