PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle occupant protecting device in which a glove box can extremely sufficiently oppose against pressing force applied from an occupant leg part to an air bag in the vehicle occupant protecting device in which the air bag is provided in a glove box. SOLUTION: The glove box 12 is installed to an interior panel 10 in front of a seat of an automobile. The lower part of the glove box 12 is freely rotatably supported by one end of a lower supporting member 20 via a hinge shaft 18. The other end of the supporting member 20 is connected and fixed to a dash panel as a vehicle body strengthening member of the automobile. An upper supporting member 22 for receiving an upper edge part of a cover part 16 is installed to the upper part of the glove box 12. One end of the supporting member 22 is fixed to the vehicle body strengthening member 24. The other end of the supporting member 22 is brought into contact with a rear face of the upper edge of the cover part 16 in a closed state. An air bag device 30 is built in the cover part.
