PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material capable of inexpensively and efficiently forming a coloring matter, a material for forming images which uses it, and a method of forming images which can form images with simplified operations and inexpensiveness using the above material for forming images. SOLUTION: The material for forming a coloring matter is provided which contains a precursor of azomethine coloring matter represented by general formula (1) and a deprotection agent represented by general formula (2) that acts to the precursor of azomethine coloring matter to form the azomethine coloring matter. The material for forming images using it and the method of forming the images are also provided. In the general formula (1), Ar indicates an aromatic or heterocyclic ring, Cp a coupler residual group, L<1> a fluorenylmethoxycarbonyl or indenylmethoxycarbonyl group, and L<2> a hydrogen atom or a substituent cleaving off in the step of the coloring matter formation. In the general formula (2), A indicates an atomic group having the positive charge of 1-3 valences, B an atomic group having the negative charge that neutralizes the charge of A, and p and q an integer of 1-6. |
