PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance manufacturing yield by preventing the damage of a polarized light reflecting layer due to the impact generated when a flat face display element having the polarized light reflecting layer is cutout in a regulated size and to maintain the durability of a sealing agent by heightening the adhesive strength of the sealing agent of the flat face display element to obtain satisfactory display quality for a long time. SOLUTION: In a counter substrate 12, a cholesteric liquid crystal polymer layer 27 is formed on a glass substrate 24 in such a manner that the end face of the cholesteric liquid crystal polymer layer is positioned in the inner side by 1 mm from the end face of the glass substrate 24, which corresponds to the cutout line 64 when the liquid crystal display element 10 is cutout in the regulated size. The sealing agent 14 is disposed so as to be positioned on the area of the cholesteric liquid crystal polymer layer 27.
