<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber which makes it possible to easily detect the presence of breakage or its position, etc., of its optical fiber body at low cost and a laser device equipped with the optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical fiber 10 is equipped with the optical fiber body 11 which transmits laser light and a conductive coating layer 12 which is provided to cover the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber body 11. The conductive coating layer 12 is formed by coating the outer peripheral surface of the optical fiber body 11 with conductive paint. The conductive coating layer 12 is made preferably of a material which is elastic enough to make itself adapt to the bending of the optical fiber body 11 and fused with heat. Detecting devices are connected to both ends of the optical fiber 10 and the detecting devices detect the conductive state of the conductive coating layer 12 of the optical fiber to detect the state of the optical fiber 10, so that a laser output device stops outputting the laser light when necessary.</p> |
