PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evenly distribute refrigerant to respective core units of an evaporator, which are incorporated into an air conditioner for motorcar to cool air which is blown out into the inside of a cabin. SOLUTION: The evaporator is provided with a core section 13, consisting of a close arrangement of a plurality of core units 11 constituted of first header members 15 and second header members 17, which are connected via tubes 19, a distribution tube 23 connected to the first header members 15 of respective core units 11 to distribute the refrigerant from an inlet port part 29 to respective core units 11, and a collecting tube 25, connected to the second header members 17 of respective core units 11 for discharging the refrigerant, collected from respective core units 11, out of an outlet port 33. The inlet port 23 of the distributing pipe 23 is arranged on one side of the direction along which the core units 11 are arrayed, while the outlet port part 33 of the collecting tube 25 is arranged at the other side of the direction in which the core units 11 are arrayed.
