PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cargo lift which is provided with a safety device for softly connecting a cargo mounted on a cargo mounting platform and an opening in a cargo compartment of a cargo carrying vehicle. SOLUTION: Hat-like guide bars 112, which extend in the vertical direction, are disposed at the right side as well as the left side of a frame 111 of an opening which constitutes sidal edges of the opening of a cargo compartment 10 of a cargo carrying vehicle. A safety device 50 comprises a ring-like fastening member 52 disposed at one end of the safety device 50, a hook-like engaging member 53 disposed at other end of the safety device 50 and a flexible string member disposed between and connecting the fastening member 52 and the engaging member 53. The fastening members 52 of the safety device are slidably fastened to the right side and the left side guide bars 112. When a pallet cart 60 containing cargo is mounted on a cargo mounting platform 30 for loading or unloading the cargo to or from the cargo compartment 10, the engaging members 53 of the both side of the safety device 50 are engaged to a cargo member 61 at a point which is higher than the gravity center G of the pallet cart 60 as well as remoter than the opening 11 of the pallet cart 60.
