PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring method for easily and accurately monitoring variable drifting force working on a megafloat when all the necessary information cannot be measured and elastic behavior should be taken into consideration even though momentary information about an incident wave height and a pressure proportional to the square of the incident wave height is required over the whole immersed water surface of a float for evaluation of the variable drifting force. SOLUTION: Using shallow draft of the megafloat, information about a component proportional to the square of the incident wave is not required among a pressure working on the float bottom face and a pressure on the float side face, and the variable drifting force is monitored on the basis of a relative water level or a pressure working on the float side face.
