PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance thermal head capable of forming a sharp printed image on a recording paper. SOLUTION: A large number of heat generating resistors 2 are attached and arranged with a predetermined interval therebetween on the upper surface of a quadrangle-shaped substrate 1 along one side thereof as well as a pair of electrodes 3 are connected with both end parts in the arrangement direction of the heat generating resistors 2 with the pair of the electrodes 3 lead out in the direction away from the side of the substrate 1 so as to provide a thermal head. According to the configuration, since all the heat generating resistors 2 can be disposed proximately to one side of the substrate, a recording paper can be eliminated from an ink ribbon while the ink of the ink ribbon is in a sufficiently molten state for preferably transferring the ink onto the recording paper. Thereby, a sharp printed image can be obtained.
