PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer which is excellent in the charge dispersibility, dispersion stability, redispersibility and fixability of particles and makes an excellent printing ink sensitizing property and printing durability possible even in an electrophotographic engraving system which is made higher in speed of a developing-fixing process step and uses a master plate of a large size. SOLUTION: This liquid developer for electrostatic photography is prepared by dispersing at least the resin particles into a nonaqueous solvent of >=10<9>Ω.cm in electric resistance and <=3.5 in dielectric constant, in which the dispersed resin particles are the copolymer resin particles obtained by subjecting the following solution to polymerization granulation: The solution contains a monofunctional monomer (A) which is soluble in the nonaqueous solvent and is made insoluble by polymerization, a monofunctional monomer (B) which contains an amino group, a monofunctional monomer (C) which contains an acidic group selected from a -PO3 H2 group, -SO3 H group and -SO2 H group, a macromonomer (MA) and a dispersion stabilizing resin (P) of a star type copolymer of a specific structure.
