STARTING SYSTEM FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting system for an internal combustion engine that can reduce required torque of a hydraulic actuator thereby to make the engine start in a short time by using the hydraulic actuator smaller than that of the prior art. SOLUTION: The starting system comprises: an electric motor 17 capable of driving the internal combustion engine 1; the hydraulic actuator 15 capable of driving the internal combustion engine 1; a hydraulic supply mechanism 16 supplying hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic actuator 15 through an oil passage 26 thereby to drive the hydraulic actuator 15; and a control means 5 operating the electric motor 17 at a time of starting and controlling the hydraulic supply mechanism 16 to make the hydraulic actuator start operating after the elapse of a predetermined period TDLY1 since the operation of the electric motor 17 has started.
