PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and an image forming method which enable development along the successive installation order of development units held by a development unit support, and prevention of the lowering of development throughput. SOLUTION: The color order of image data is changeable according to the successive installation state of the first and fourth development units 231 to 234 of a development rotary 22 by using positional information and identification information on the first to fourth development units 231 to 234 mounted on the development rotary 22, and change information. Accordingly, even when the first to fourth development units 231 to 234 are mounted at the arbitrary positions of the development rotary 22, the development can be performed by rotating the development rotary 22 in steps of minimum rotation so as to be moved to an adjacent development unit 23. |
