PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent harmful effects such as early deterioration of oil and exhaust of white smoke from an exhaust port caused by an increase of oil mist in a valve chamber. SOLUTION: In the lubricating device for a four cycle engine, feeding of the oil mist to the valve chamber 27 from an oil storage chamber 42 via a cam chamber 14 and returning of the oil mist to the oil storage chamber 42 from the cam chamber 14 and the valve chamber 27 via a crankcase 6 are alternately repeated by using pressure fluctuation of the crankcase 6 by reciprocating movement of a piston, and a bypass passage 57 is provided returning the oil mist inside the cam chamber 14 to the crankcase 6 without passing it through the valve chamber 27. By this, an oil mist feed amount to the valve chamber 27 is reduced while satisfying sufficient feeding of the oil mist to the cam chamber 14, and harmful effects such as an increase of oil consumption, the exhaust of white smoke from the exhaust port 35 and the early deterioration of the oil are prevented.
