A wheel mechanism for controlling turning of the front wheel 31 of a stroller 20 includes a vertical axle 11 and a latching mechanism 12. The upper end of the vertical axle 11 is pivotally connected to the front end 211 of the frame of the stroller 21. The lower end of the vertical axle is fixed to a horizontal axle of the front wheel 31. The latch 12 is movably mounted along the vertical axle 11 and the frame 21 and selectively moved between a release position and a locked position. When in the released position the wheel 31 can turn freely about the vertical axle 11, and when in the locked position the wheel 31 cannot turn about the vertical axle 11 but only rotates about its horizontal axle. Preferably, the latch 12 has a latch pin 122, which engages in a locking hole 2122 on the pivotal portion 212 located on the front of the stroller frame 21, and is engaged with locking hole 2122 manually by use of a handle 1237 connected to a movable device 123 which is made up of a pair of rotators 1231 and 1232 each having screw surfaces 1234 and 1235 so that when the handle is moved laterally, the latch pin 122 moves vertically. |
