PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting supercharging pressure limitation of a turbocharger in an internal combustion engine in relation to density of ambient air in the internal combistion engine. SOLUTION: Values of a primary ambient temperature T∞, primary ambient pressure P∞, a suction air flow rate ML, and supercharging pressure PL are calculated at prescribed time intervals in this operation state. Primary pressure PVE and a primary temperature TVE of a compressor inlet are calculated by a corrected performance curve of a function of a predetermined air flow rate from these values. An air flow rate MLkor of the compressor inlet corrected each time by standard condition of a compressor is calculated from the calculated pressure PVE, temperature TVE and suction air flow rate ML of the compressor inlet. Maximum allowable supercharging pressure PLmaxkor related to a compressor rotational speed is obtained by the air flow rate MLkor and the ambient pressure P∞of the compressor inlet corrected by the standard condition of the compressor, and compared with supercharging pressure PList calculated in this operation state. The supercharging pressure is adjusted so that a calculation value of the supercharging pressure PList becomes the maximum allowable supercharging pressure PLmaxkor or less of a function of the compressor rotational speed calculated each time by this condition. |
