PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector for detecting the defect of a holding member which can easily and accurately detect and decide whether a clip is deformed or not. SOLUTION: A tabular spacer 90 and a regulation plate 92 can be attached to the lower parts of an angle 66, 80, etc., and a regulating part 86 is composed of facing regulation plates 92. The regulating part 86 is made into a size for housing the clip 28 (same about other angles). It is judged whether the clip 28 is within the range of regulation sizes or not by whether the clip 28 is housed into the regulating part 86 or not. When the clip 28 is a defective product, it cannot enter the regulating part 86 because it is caught in the upper limb part of the regulating part 86. Thus, the defective detection of the clip 28 is easily performed because the presence or absence of the deformation of the clip 28 is decided by stopping the entering of the clip 28 of the defective product. Moreover, an inspection by using this device is correct and has little variation as compared with inspection by a visual inspection.
