PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm whether or not communication between an illuminator and a camera is functionally connected by realizing test light emission being light emission not accompanied with exposure photography (traveling of a shutter). SOLUTION: The camera which the illuminator can be attached to/detached from and can communicate with the illuminator via a communication contact group has a 1st switching means turned on according as the shutter travels and transmitting a light emission designating signal for making the illuminator emit light via a specified contact out of the communication contact group to the illuminator, and also has a 2nd switching means turned on by photographer's operation. By turning on the 2nd switching means, the light emission designating signal is transmitted to the illuminator via the specified contact.
