PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce unevenness in density in the sub scanning direction that is often generated when forming an image with a single color and to improve the transferring ability when forming an image by superposing more than two colors. SOLUTION: In the apparatus, each photoreceptor drum 5 is driven by a motor 33 and a transfer belt 21 is driven by a different motor not shown in Fig. The linear velocity of the photoreceptor drum 5 is constituted to be variable by having the rotational speed of the motor 33 varied. The linear velocity of the photoreceptor drum 5 is controlled to be slower by approximately 1.6% than the linear velocity of the transfer belt 21 in color printing and linear velocities of both are made the same in monochrome printing. |
