PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection optical system which corrects the distortion of a projection image and is made thin on the whole system and an optical adjusting method which facilitates its optical adjustment. SOLUTION: The projection optical system which enlarges and projects a display image of a two-dimensional display element (P) on a screen (Sb) is constituted by installing a 1st mirror (M1) with negative power on its reflecting surface and a 2nd mirror (M2) which has a reflecting surface in the optical path from the two-dimensional display element (P) to the reflecting surface of the 1st mirror (M1) on the same base plate; and the tilts of the 1st and 2nd mirrors (M1, M2) can be adjusted. |
