PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an absorption refrigeration unit, capable of starting while restraining lowering of a cooling water temperature, which lowers a cooling water outlet temperature excessively and causes faulty start. SOLUTION: The absorption refrigeration unit is provided with a start bypass valve 69 arranged between the inlet line 16 of cooling water for evaporators 11, 14 and the outlet lines 65 of the same to lower the cooling water outlet temperature upon starting and satisfy heat supplying regulation with respect to a load 100. A sensor 66, for detecting the temperature of the cooling water passing through the line 65, is provided on the upstream side of the valve 69. A controller 67, for lowering a refrigerating capacity temporarily upon starting, is provided. The controller controls, so that the valve 69 is opened after the beginning of starting and the valve 69 is closed, based on that the sensor 66 has detected the cooling water outlet temperature lower than a predetermined temperature, after the beginning of starting and refrigerant pumps 13, 43 for supplying refrigeration to refrigerant nozzles 20, 50 are stopped, so that hat exchange between the refrigerant and the cooling water will not conducted in the evaporators 11, 41, and then the refrigerant pumps are restarted after a predetermined time period from the time of stoppage of the refrigerant pumps 13, 43.
