PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing of structure that a sufficient elastic modulus regarding deformation of a shoe and excellent slide characteristics are combined together. SOLUTION: A slide bearing is regarding a slide bearing for a stationary or a rotary shaft rolls 1 and 1' in a paper/board machine or a finishing machine. The bearing is provided with some bearing members provided with shoes 2 and 2' on which a load by an oil pressure is applied. The bearing has a synthetic structure and the load shoes 2 and 2' have respective bodies formed of a metal material having an elastic modulus higher than that of bronze. A shell 4 of the roll 1 having the load shoes 2 and 2' and/or the rotary shaft 5 of the rotary shaft roll 1' and/or a shell 4 of the roll 1 having a stationary shaft 3 has sliding surfaces 7, 8, 9, and 10 coated with a metallic material having a lubrication component to prevent the occurrence of seizure in a boundary lubrication state.
