PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the arrangement of a burner-port zone optimum, and securely prevent the occurrence of a backfire phenomenon at the time of re-ignition in the case of using a ceramic plate provided with the burner-port zone and non-burner-port zones. SOLUTION: An infrared burner 1 of this invention is provided with a ceramic combustion plate 3 in a burner case, and the ceramic combustion plate 3 is provided with a burner-port zone 4 where many burner ports 4a are arranged and non-burner-port zones 5 without any burner ports 4a. The rate of the total area of the burner ports in the burner-port zone 4 occupying the total area of the ceramic combustion plate 3 is made within a predetermined range.
