PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift-by-wire system capable of effecting shift with excellent response to shift switch operation of a driver, in a shift-by-wire system. SOLUTION: In shift-by-wire system provided with a shift switch 4 operated by a driver and outputting a switch signal indicating a shift position corresponding to each of ranges, such as a parking range and a drive range; a shift actuator situated at an automatic transmission and driving a manual valve and a parking rod; and a shift control means 20 to input a switch signal for the shift switch 4 and output a command to obtain a shift position indicated by the switch signal, intermediate switches 11, 13, 15, and 17 to indicate the intermediate position of each range are situated at the intermediates of the switches indicating shift positions corresponding to the ranges of the switches.
