PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of enhancing a detection accuracy of an abnormal state of a steering auxiliary circuit for outputting a steering auxiliary instruction current to an electric motor imparting a steering auxiliary force and preventing an unrequired stop of the device caused by an erroneous judgment. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device is provided with a difference value calculation means c for calculating a difference value between an actual current detected by an current detection means b and the steering auxiliary instruction current outputted from the steering auxiliary circuit a; an abnormality detection means d for detecting an abnormality of the steering auxiliary circuit when the difference value of the actual current of the steering auxiliary instruction current calculated by the difference value calculation means c exceeds a predetermined abnormality detection threshold value; an instruction current variation ratio calculation means e for calculating a variation ratio of the steering auxiliary instruction current; and an abnormality detection forbidding means f for forbidding the abnormality detection by the abnormality detection means d when the variation ratio of the steering auxiliary instruction current calculated by the instruction current variation ratio calculation means e is a predetermined value or higher. |
