PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an oily ink for electrostatic ink jet which is excellent in the discharge stability of the ink, bright image formability and image strength and affords a printing plate capable of printing many sheets of the printed matter of the bright images. SOLUTION: This liquid developer for electrostatic photography is prepared by dispersing the dispersion resin particles (CSR) of double layer constitution obtained by subjecting a dispersion liquid containing a monofunctional monomer (A) which is soluble in a nonaqueous solvent and is made insoluble by polymerization, a monofunctional macromonomer(MA) and a dispersion stabilizing resin (P) which is a polymer at least containing a specified component and is soluble in the nonaqueous solvent and seed particles (CR) of 0.05 to 1.0μm in average grain size to a seed reaction polymerization into the nonaqueous solvent of >=10<9>Ω.cm in electric resistance and <=3.5 in dielectric constant.
